Oil tankers are used to transport oil to the continental U.S. from the Gulf of Mexico, Latin America, Alaska, and other locations. Some US oil comes from the Middle East. Nearly all of the gasoline sold in the United States is produced in the United States. Most gasoline moves from refineries through pipelines to large storage terminals near consuming areas. According to a recent poll, most Americans think the majority of the oil imported to their country comes from the Middle East. Yet when taking into consideration all the countries that export oil to the country, it’s clear that most of the oil comes from North and South America. Canada is the top exporter of oil to the US.
